There is such a thing as a Democrat who actually thinks! Not many examples of that, but some, and this is a perfect example.

There are also perfect examples of Republican's who are worse than Dems, because they disguise themselves as Democrats, but when push comes to shove, just box up the works, i.e., John McCain. RINO's. They're worse than Democrats because we don't really know who they are until they are elected.

I do, however, feel that Chavez's assinine speach, along with Ahmadinejad's, was a good thing for the simple reason that is was blaired all over national Television and maybe it actually woke some people up! (We can hope... right?)

Koch and Zell Miller are old time Democrats, the kind who still have common sense and principles. I used to be a Democrat and grew up in a Democrat voting family. Most of us have become Republicans now because we realized that the Democratic party and political correctness have gone off the deep end.




I hope people are waking up. But from the level of rhetoric I see coming from the left, I'm hard pressed to feel optimistic. They are so firmly entrenched in a world so removed from reality that you can't help but think that their minds are ruined. They know nothing of human nature, nor can they think critically. And they're coming out of the universities in masses. They're like the Borg.

The fact that someone's an engineer, an MBA or, as we've seen, a Democrat with a Law degree is not an indicator of the state of either his mental health or his character.

As often as not, ideas as consequential as that of liberty have to be fought for on the battlefield, that's reality. No matter how ideal a Utopian, peaceful world might be, it will never happen, because there will always be dissatisfied elements wanting to overthrow their governments and governments wanting more global influence or "real estate" that belongs to other governments. It is the nature of the beast.

On the same token, diplomacy can be useful in preventing wars between countries.

Islam does not belong to the above community, diplomacy can't work with it because it views compromising as weakness and respects only terror, torture and murder as a way to its ends.
Its' scriptures command this.

The liberal response to this may work well in a field of dandelions, but in the real world, the one outside of the lefty's mares-eat-oats mind, affairs are quite the opposite.

Koch mentioned Daniel Pearl. I often think that most Americans have forgotten about the atrocity of Pearl's beheading. Where's the Muslim apology for THAT travesty?

Even though Pearl was one of their own, you'll notice that in the interests of PC as well as downplaying the War On Terror (a matter of anti-Bush politics), we read or hear little remembrance of it from the mainstream media.

If a NYT reporter meets a similar fate, it will simply be the fault of "Bush's Iraq War", and there will be weeks of editorials blaming Bush rather than laying the blame on Muslims practicing their Islam.

I've always thought Koch was a great American and forever look forward to reading his OpEds.
He is what a Democrat was before the liberals assumed control of their political party.

I'll just say "ditto" to all the well deserved praise for Ed Koch. That kind of clear thinking is a rarity in his party these days.

I'm sure there must be many Democrats who feel the same way he does, but don't speak up for fear of being ridiculed by the angry lefties that have made hate into a political platform.
