Michael Graham & CAIR

Radio talk show host Michael Graham(WMAL, Washington, DC), commented recently that "We are at war with a terrorist organization named Islam," and immediately CAIR(Council On American-Islamic relations) zeroed in on the radio station. In a Washington Post article,

A local radio talk show host touched off complaints from an Islamic civil rights organization yesterday after repeatedly describing Islam on the air as "a terrorist organization" that is "at war with America."

The organization, the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), asked the station to take disciplinary action against Michael Graham, who hosts WMAL-AM's late-morning call-in program.

A station executive, Randall Bloomquist, said yesterday that Graham's comments were "amped up" but justified within the context of the program. He said the station, which is owned by the Walt Disney Co., had no plans to reprimand Graham.

The show host touched off the flap during a discussion of the Muslim community's response to recent acts of terrorism. Graham suggested the fault lies with Muslims generally because religious leaders and followers haven't done enough to condemn and root out extreme elements. "The problem is not extremism," Graham said, according to both CAIR and the station. "The problem is Islam." He also said, "We are at war with a terrorist organization named Islam."

So, the station backed him up, and the only thought I had was, "good for them."

On CAIR's website, they had this to say.

But somehow, in the end, due to pressure on station owners ABC and Disney by CAIR, WMAL gave Graham the boot, another media venue giving way to the demands of political correctness that is increasingly stifling any truth and opinion in the "news" media that does not reflect the liberal viewpoint, right or wrong.

On CAIR's website, they cite that their mission is to "enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, and empower American Muslims."

Hmmm, my understandin' o' Islam is, it's got somethin' to do with blowin' folks up, ain't that raht?

An' them bombers sure got them a real unique way o' encouragin' that there dialogue, ain't they?

They sure protected a passle o' them civil liberties back on September 11th of '01.

Yup, an' any o' them there Muslims'd be pretty durn empowered oncet they git issued one o' them suicide vests they set such store on, I s'pose it's the Islamic fashion o' the new millenium, or some such....

Seth, surely you're not as ignorant as you're pretending here?

I see where you're saying I'm ignorant, but I don't see where you define your terms. If you want to call names, don't do so without at least leaving your own opinion to justify why you think so, it smacks too much of the usual lame liberal kind of thing, where they yell that this is stupid and that's wrong, but never have anything intelligent to say that supports their statements.Do you have an opinion on the content of my post, or are you just another "ignorant" liberal who can't stand the truth?

You said:Hmmm, my understandin' o' Islam is, it's got somethin' to do with blowin' folks up, ain't that raht? If this is your understanding of Islam, it is an ignorant one. If you think ignorant is an insult, that is also ignorant."Ignorant" means, as I'm sure you know, uninformed, unaware.I was assuming your intelligence to know the meaning of "ignorant" and the reasoning behind it, thus my honest question and its lack of explanation. I apologize for the assumption.

You need, where the "my understandin'" part goes, to recognize sarcasm when you see it.As far as the rest goes, while Muslim organizations like CAIR and others purport to represent positive ideas, they do little or nothing to fight terrorism in their community, from whence terrorism comes, and in fact help support arrested terrorists by assuring their legal defenses, etc.Historically, Islam has brought violence with it wherever it has gone, because its beliefs include the idea that it is the only religion that matters, and that non Muslims' lives have no value, they can be killed in the name of God. It's taught in mosques that Allah wants his faithful to kill infidels.Sure, it may seem unfair to the peaceful majority of Muslims for Americans and other westerners to feel as I and a lot of others do, but when we see terrorists using their religious mosques to make bombs and store weapons while many of their clerics preach jihad and when we don't see that the Muslims are trying to help clean up their own community as regards terrorism...If you look at the Euro countries, who have allowed their Arab and Turkish Muslim populations to grow unchecked by immigration quotas, today you see concern ala "what have we done?" Islam is at war with non-Islamics., Chechnya, London recently, Spain, Italy, Indonesia, southeast Asia, PI, the Balkans, even Muslim countries like Egypt recently and others who are evidently not "Islamic" enough for the terrorists or who oppose their doctrine. And there's Israel, where suicide bombers attack relentlessly, through peace talks and Israeli concessions, because their goal isn't to have a state beside Israel, but to have the whole falafel. My opinion is that the most precious thing God gave us is life, and we've already seen that life means nothing to these people, not even their own children's, whom they indoctrinate and send out as suicide bombers.I do not feel it should be a requirement that we gamble with our lives in order not to offend Muslims, and that is what we are doing when we take the PC route of "pretending" that we have nothing to fear from Islam. My main issue, as I've already said, is that they(most of the Muslims who claim to want to live in peace) do not even attempt to police their own communities.Maybe there's something you don't know about Islamic terror cells: They are more often than not community or even family based. Their members are known for what they are by neighbors and relatives, When Mohamed and his brother Habib go out to commit murder, their friends, family and neighbors all know. Again, how many of them pick up a phone to report it and save a few "infidels'" lives?
