Mark Steyn…

…defines, in this column, the true source of the “War On Children”.

Put as succinctly as this, any logic blessed American voter reading the column should stop and ponder:

1. Why aren’t the Democrats in Congress thinking about the future their social programs will leave to “the children”, who will grow up to be tax-paying adults? Why do they attempt to emulate failed European policies while ignoring the negative results of same?

Could it be that they’re only concerned with the politics of the now rather than the realities of the future?

2. Assuming they are concerned about the future of our country and about “the children”, is this simply a case of the Democrats being incapable of assessing the down-the-road ramifications of policies they set today?

Are political leaders who lack even an iota of perspicacity qualified to lead the country?

The United States of America is a perpetually ongoing concept, yet the Democrats treat it as though it is a political Busy Box whose attention span needs only to extend from one Election Day to the next.

If the Democrats feel the need to invoke “the children”, they need look no further for invokees than those occupying seats to the left of the aisle.

“Could it be that they’re only concerned with the politics of the now rather than the realities of the future?”

    Bingo!

  2. Seth Says:

    Donald –

    Isn’t that absolutely tragic?

  3. Ken Taylor Says:

Did FDR think about the future that Social Secuirty and the New Deal welfare state would produce ? No. Did LBJ think about the future problems that the Great Society would cause for the country ? No. And neither will todays libs think about the future ramifications of the Socilism they are trying to ram down our throats.

One, because they are arrogant enough as was FDR ans LBJ to beleive that they know what is best for America regardless of the consiquences or how it effects the people and whether the people even want it or not.

Second, every move they make with these massive entitlements from FDR to the present is designed to bring an American Socialsim with Democrats in charge and the American people a slave to an all powerful Federal Government designed by and run by them!

  4. Seth Says:

    Ken –

    Spot on.

It’s a taxpayer’s/voter’s responsibility to study the candidates before an election and decide which ones best represent what they would want for themselves and the country. Even though the rank and file Democrat who votes for these people will be in the same sinking socialist boat with the rest of us before he (or she) realizes the stupidity with which he has cast his votes, he can expect no sympathy from me.

  5. Goat Says:

Well said my friend, gotta love Steyn, the guy is on target with deadly precision. It is time to mount up and take our battle positions just keep that Navy bombardment up so us foot soldiers can run roughshod over the moonbats. Anchors away, its time to attack and not let up till Nov. ‘08 and beyond if needed. I pray beyond is not needed.

  6. Seth Says:

    Goat –

Bravo! This is exactly the right time to dig in and start showing any U.S. citizen who visits our sites why it is in his/her best interests as Americans to vote to starboard.

  7. Angel Says:

right on Seth..and of course getting 11
year olds the pill is just part of
taking care of the “children” eh?..
    NOT!!!

  8. Gayle Says:

Absolute truth, here, Seth, which of course the libs don’t want to hear!

It’s going to get down and dirty before it’s over. Let’s pray we can keep Hitlery, or any Dem, out of the White House in 08. I dread even thinking of the consequences of having to put up with them for even one term. That would be four years of hell and it would take us a lot longer than that to clean up after her. Congress has already proven that!

Our internal battle has only just begun. Fight on!

  9. Seth Says:

    Angel –

The left will employ any tactic they can that undermines American standards of morality, just as they attack Judeo-Christian symbols and illegalize any mention of G-d in the public sector, seek to overturn the Second Amendment and ever-increasingly attempt to render political dialogue one-sided (their side, of course).

This is a highly disturbing state of affairs: That these people oppose not just a few of the sensibilities that constitute the fabric of our nation, but every single idea that made this country the great entity it is today.

They are trying, brick by brick, as it were, to completely disassemble America so as to rebuild it in their socialist image.

    Gayle –

I don’t think there are going to be very many right thinking people sitting out the 2008 election, not if they’re paying even an iota of attention to the news. Even the MSM can’t conceal some of the B.S. that’s been coming from the left since they “achieved” their majority.

Politically/diplomatically/economically/militarily and just plain intellectually speaking, Edwards and Obama are featherweights. Hillary is almost certainly going to win in the primary (unless the chickens of her illegal campaign funding come home to roost, and those Americans who still don’t get it realize that a vote for Hillary is a vote for a criminal), and she will be a formidable opponent, if she does, for the Republican nominee.

As we’ve both agreed elsewhere, Ron Paul, if he “goes for it” as a third party candidate, will present the biggest problem re keeping Hillary out of the White House.

Paul is to the GOP what professional side-thorn Ralph Nader is to the Democrats.

You are right about this election cycle heating up — it’s most certainly going to get “down & dirty” before much longer.

  10. Shoprat Says:

They have to do it for the kids because they don’t believe parents can.

Hillary is nothing more than a power-hungry witch who would end freedom and democracy in this country.

  11. Seth Says:

    Shoprat –

Hillary is the most formidable Presidential contender in the Democrat field because while the other Dem candidates are clowns, she is a serious political survival machine.

She’s also the most dangerous, because if she was elected, she would pursue an agenda of transforming the United States into a socialist country, one more in line with the former USSR than with, say, France or Canada.

It would, indeed, be “Hasta la bye-bye” to freedom and democracy.

    Seth:

I think Hillary is in trouble. Zogby just did a poll on 10,000 Americans who were registered voters and 50% said they would never vote for her. That’s up from 46% six months ago. Let’s hope and pray that this negative momentum keeps building.

Hillary just recently said, “I have a million ideas; Americans can’a afford them”.

    It sent me chills.

  13. Seth Says:

    Atheling2 –

What Americans can’t afford is Hillary in the White House. G-d only knows we’ve been Clintonized enough already with eight years of the husband and wife crime wave at that address.

    I hope Zogby’s on point.

There’s an entire year and change to go before the general election and, politics being what it is, especially when we’re talking the most powerful elected office on earth, I expect Hillary will be exposed in all her “glory” should she win the Democrat nomination.

Her only votes will end up coming from the far left, die-hard Democrats and people who don’t get out much. :-)
