A Democrat I Can Agree With On Something

Yessirree, at least on one issue. :-)

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.), that’s right, D

…one of Israel’s staunchest defenders in Congress — wants Americans who were aboard the Gaza flotilla ships prosecuted.

On a conference call organized by the Israel Project on Friday, Sherman said that any U.S. citizen aboard the ship should be considered aiding Hamas, an Islamic extremist organization that controls Gaza. The U.S. State Department considers Hamas a foreign terrorist organization.

The online foreign policy publication Lobelog reported:

On a press call hosted by a pro-Israel organization, Rep. Brad Sherman, Democrat of California, told reporters that he intends seek the prosecution of any U.S. citizens who were aboard or involved with the Freedom Flotilla.

“The Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 [PDF] makes it absolutely illegal for any American to give food, money, school supplies, paper clips, concrete or weapons to Hamas or any of its officials,” Sherman said on the Israel Project call, conflating Hamas and Gaza’s civilian population. “And so I will be asking the Attorney General to prosecute any American involved in what was clearly an effort to give items of value to a terrorist organization.”

Let’s enforce that act. There are, sad to say, a lot of Americans out there who have so little respect and so much contempt for the liberty this country guarantees us that they think nothing of abusing it.

Jane Fonda’s orgy of treason with the NVA was one example, these useful flotilla idiots are another. The Fonda traitor shmoozed with the enemy, these folks are so twisted and perverse that they rejoice in the murder of innocent women and children, probably wished they could drink the blood of all those mass-butchered on 9/11, as they sail off in support of terrorism.

They should be more than prosecuted, they should be deported to one of these terrorist manufacturing Muslim countries where they can enjoy be treated like these Islamofascists believe infidels should be treated.

Here’s the entire article.

The Americans aboard that ship, like most of the others, were undoubtedly aboard with the sincere intention of doing as stated: Delivering humanitarian goods to the people of Gaza.

    Humanitarian!

They weren’t there to commit any kind of mayhem, Chuck.

What you and that Sherman fellow want for these selfless people is similar to the trouble one can get into while trying unsuccessfully to save somebody’s life with First Aid or CPR in a non “Good Samaritan” Law state.

  2. Harry Says:

    Simeon,

They weren’t there to commit any kind of mayhem, Chuck.

All that clubbing and so forth sure looked to me like they were, and even if the Americans weren’t there to make with the bats and other fun, innocent weapons, they were participating in a blockade run that was forbidden to Americans.

    Why?

It’s called aiding and abetting terrorism.

The people of the Gaza Strip get plenty of humanitarian aid sent to them. A lot of it never sees those who are the intended recipients.

The Palestinians elected Hamas to rule over there, knowing fully well they are a terrorist organization, and ever since they have repeatedly either trashed or absconded with humanitarian aid items to further their political aims at the expense of the rank and file: If the people don’t get them, even though it’s because Hamas took them, they still turn around and blame the Israelis.

That’s the name of the game, just as it was when Hamas’ first move in Gaza was to trash all the necessary infrastructure.

Make the Israelis look bad by lying that there weren’t enough supplies coming, while Hamas knew there was plenty go around.

Meanwhile, having spent a bit of time on some ships myself, I know how the scuttlebutt machine works. There’s no way the non-violent “peace activists” aboard didn’t know the others who were planning to get violent were thus prepared.

The above said, those “peace activists” are/were not peaceful or humanitarian at all. They were just run-of-the-mill terrorist sympathizers looking to make trouble for the Israelis.

They all figure that if they can get the international community to back the Gaza blockade down, Hamas will then be able to take delivery of missiles, other weapons and explosives with which to continue murdering Israeli men, women and children.

  3. Chuck Says:

    Simeon,

I’ll have to go 100% with Harry there, adding that most of the stuff we read and hear about how the UN, the EU countries, etc deploring Israeli activities should strike you, or any other thinking man as strange: That is, we never read or hear of the usual suspects criticizing the Palestinians, even when Hamas blows up a restaurant and murders sixteen civilians, yet the second an Israeli defends himself against an attack or an IDF unit responds to a terrorist attack, there is major blame for Israel as though they’re the only people in the region who ever do anything wrong.

In this case, they’re trying to push Israel into making themselves vulnerable to attack, which once again the “international community” will ignore until Israel again retaliates, or even moves to defend themselves.

    It’s all a matter of S.S.D.D.

One should think that that alone would make you question these broken record responses Israeli defensive acts provoke without let-up.

    Harry

Let’s hope Netanyahu sticks to his guns and doesn’t ever let the SOBs back him down.

Thank GOd the Israelis once again have a P.M. with a spine!

  4. The Gray Monk Says:

Hamas is doing what all terrorist organisations with access to “humanitarian aid” do - giving it to their elite, selling it on to buy guns, bombs and other weapons and then using the idiots who can never use their own common sense as propaganda spreaders. The African National Congress did this with British and Western “Humanitarian” Aid while running concentration camps in Zambia, Angola and Mozambique to keep their own dissidents in line and have somewhere to show the “suffering” of their refugees. At the same time South Africa had a genuine refugee problem from these states running into several million - which the International Red Cross refused to recognise. One good reason I will NEVER support the Red Cross again.

The Israelis certainly haven’t exactly got clean hands in this, but then they have lived in a state of seige since the founding of Israel in 1948. The Palestinians do have some legitimate grievances, but adopting terrorism as a way of redressing them isn’t an answer - and neither is the tactic of importing foreigners to take part in “civil disobedience” demos. All of these idiots go to these demos knowing that there will be those among them looking for a violent confrontation, but haven’t the brains to realise that the best way of avoiding that is to stay at home! One I spoke to recently got all defensive and burbled about her “right” to demonstrate and then declared that the trouble makers were “planted by the establishment”. When that failed to win the argument, she declared that the “real demonstrators” did their best to “restrain” the “justifiable anger” of some of their people. Yeah, right. “Justifiable anger.”

The west has a major problem since the 1960’s student demos and “hippie” peace camps where allowed to get away with mayhem. Now there is a large body of so-called intellectuals who are little more than “Rent-a-Mob” for any “cause” likely to give them an ego boost by taking part in some illegal activity which is anti-west and anti-majority thinking.

They call themselves “moralists” yet their morals are driven purely by their own prejudice against everything and anything the rest of us stand for. By the way, take a good look at the next demo crowd you see, but take a good hard look at the fringes of the crowd. That is where you will see the people co-ordinating it and directing the “action”. Not at the front and certainly not where they can get thumped, shot or tear gassed.

    Gray Monk,

the fringes of the crowd. That is where you will see the people co-ordinating it and directing the “action”. Not at the front and certainly not where they can get thumped, shot or tear gassed

Much as the imams and other “fearless leaders” among the Islamofascist crowd are never anywhere in evidence when the “faithful” they’ve dispatched in suicide vests blow themselves up in order to murder other people.

    Ain’t that always the way?

The fact that these so-called “peace” activists are so easily maneuvered into placing themselves on the firing line to represent causes they know little about, and what they think they know is also available in bumper sticker format, makes them first cousins to those Lenin termed “useful idiots”.

These are the same people who man the environmental barricades without realizing that the greatest contribution they could make would be to abstain from breathing in and wasting valuable oxygen, so that the rest of us would have that much more to breathe. :-)
