Seth Update 2

Wolf here.

Seth and his friends got themselves into a bit of a problem a couple of weeks ago, especially my old buddy. They were pursuing their quarry on the soil of a country whose government is not what you’d call friendly to the United States, and Seth got his ass caught by a garrison of dumbasses.

He was held in a stockade for several days and severely mistreated. Apparently, they wanted to know how he and his accomplices got into the country and who helped them. Seth, who is one loyal cuss (which is how he go into the jam to begin with), refused to talk and was, as they say, put through the wringer. Even after over a week of being given a pretty rough time, the most he’d tell them concerned their parentage and suggested interesting ways they might experiment with their own body parts, most of which were impossible.

Some people I once worked with and I went down there and rescued him — I’ve long owed Seth for taking some serious risks on my behalf a long time ago, so this was the least I could do.

He’s now recuperating in what we will call an “undisclosed location” while we figure out a way to get him home without encountering any official complications and while he gets himself back to his old healthy self.

No permanent damage, just a lot of bruising, contusions and other minor effects one encounters when colliding with rifle stocks, truncheons and knuckles, and is half starved for a week or so and kept locked up in a stiflingly hot, muggy cell. He should be back to normal, if we can call what he was previously normal, in a week or so.

All in all, a wonderful time was had by all.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go rest these tired old bones for a day or so.

Wolf out.

My private email addy is at my web site.

  3. Shoprat Says:

All I can say is Wow. Thank God you were able to rescue him.

  4. the merry widow Says:

    Good GRIEF!

  5. The Gray Monk Says:

An interesting life he leads obviously. I trust that some of those who were accidently bumping into himwith rifle butts etc., have encountered a few accidents to teir persons? Preferably one’s which remove them permanently from the gene pool?

Tell Seth I hope he gets himself home and recovered soon.

  6. Ogre Says:

Good on ya, Seth! Give ‘em hell. :)

    And get better soon.

  7. Gayle Says:

And I thought I was busy! Good grief!

Wolf, will you please inform Seth that Indiana Jones is a fictional character and that one should not try to imitate him in real life?

Seriously, I pray he feels better soon and gets back home even sooner!

  8. Kat Says:

OMG, you tell Seth to get better and get his ass back here! Good Lord… If he gets back in time for Christmas, he’d better come up and have it with us; I’ll even get him a nice, big bottle of Laphroig (or however the stuff is spelled), while I spoil him rotten.

*sigh* What is it with the manly men I know that they seem to rejoice in getting bruised and bloodied without me around to help patch them up? ;-)

Wolf, tell Sth I’m sending big hugs and LOTS of prayers - *AND* that the Christmas invite is for-real, OK?

    NH Meri Wido,

    I will do so shortly.

    Always On Watch,

Seth is not presently in a position to email, as there is little technology where he is R & R’ing. As soon as he is able, he will be up and at ‘em. He will, however, be receiving a printout of this post and all comments in the meantime.

    Shoprat,

It may have been luckiest for the SOBs who were holding him that we rescued him. :-)

    Merry Widow,

Believe me, I’d like to do more than smack him. What he was trying to do is more in my line than his. I suppose I’ll just have to await his full recuperation, however, then maybe one good, swift kick in the —-

I know he’ll appreciate your prayers, thanks!

    Gray Monk,

When we were getting him out (two of us had to support him, there was about a week’s sleep deprivation included in the fun), one of the soldiers we were holding had apparently been responsible for a certain excessive amount of torment. Seth came wide awake long enough to punch that one in the throat with considerable force, though we didn’t wait around, after he dropped to the floor, to examine him for possible long (or very short) term effects.

In the course of the rescue op, however, a number of the bad guys were prematurely retired.

    No regrets.

    Ogre,

He should be just fine, hopefully after a few days of rest, sun and sand.

    Gayle,

    My sentiments exactly, LOL.

    Kat,

If Seth is up, around and we’ve got him back into CONUS before Christmas, perhaps he’ll be able to take you up on it. He’ll have the printout of this comment thread in a couple of days, max.

  10. BB-Idaho Says:

Was under the impression that Seth was semi-retired.
Lordy, full retirement will be the stuff of Tom Clancy…

  11. Wolf Says:

    BB-Idaho,

This one almost assured him forced retirement, never mind semi or full. I’d like to think that for Seth, full retirement will be as peaceful as mine had been before this situation came up, though I have to admit that the adrenalin and action involved were the stuff of nostalgia. ;-)

  12. Always On Watch Says:

    Wolf,
Thanks for the updates on Seth. And give him my best wishes. If he does go to Kat’s place, I’ll drive down there to celebrate with him. ;)

  13. Wolf Says:

    Always On Watch,

Seth sends greetings and gratitude, to you and to all, and also wishes everybody a Merry Christmas.

He is doing well, and has read a printout of all comments to date.

Unfortunately, there are a few concerns we have that are not related to his health, that concern returning him home; I can’t get into them here (or anywhere on-line, etc), but we are working on those issues now.

  14. Gayle Says:

Thanks for the update, Wolf. I’m very glad to know that Seth is okay.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to the both of you. I hope, Seth, that you will be able to return home very soon!

  15. Wolf Says:

    Gayle,

    Thank you.

I will pass your thoughtful comment on to Seth, and a Merry Christmas to you and your family. :-)

  16. Always On Watch Says:

    Wolf,
    I’m grateful for the updates.

Seth is on my mind a lot lately.

    Yes, I’m a worry wart.

  17. Wolf Says:

    Always On Watch,

    We aim to please. :-)

Please try not to worry, he is in good hands right now, and we ain’t talking Allstate.

  18. Always On Watch Says:

What’s the latest word? Whatever you can share in a public forum would be fine.

    Thanks.

  19. Wolf Says:

    Always On Watch,

The problem we got Seth out of followed him to New York, and as a result, we have had to relocate him while we strive to put an end to this situation.

He is okay, resting and recuperating, though I cannot say what part of the country he is presently in.

He did say to pass on that next time some liberal claims that we are “torturing” people at GITMO, he will be sorely tempted to kick him in the groin. :-)

  20. HotWomen Says:

I just want to let you know that I have benefited from the information here. Thanks a lot.
