If There’s One Thing We Can Count On…

…it’s that no matter what happens, any and every solution the Democrats will devise to any and every problem will be based upon raising taxes.

Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, is proposing a new carbon tax to reduce U.S. energy consumption. Part of the proceeds, he said would help pay for “universal health care — “upon passage,” he noted.

Dingell, here, wants not only to raise taxes, but also to create a new tax to pile on to those we already pay. A “carbon tax”.

But he’s not finished!

In addition to the carbon tax, Dingell’s plan to reduce global warming also includes higher taxes on gasoline; and a phase-out of the mortgage interest deduction on what he called “McMansions.”

If that’s not enough, he’s holding free reign on the as yet unproven concept of man-made global warming.

Yeah, yeah, we know — Dingleberry and his ilk ignore the scientists who employ actual science to refute the man-made “climate change” theories that are based totally upon politics rather than science, so…

“The earth is getting warmer and human activities are a large part of the cause,” Dingell said. “We need to act in order to prevent a serious problem.”

Dingell admits that reducing greenhouse gas emissions will be a “massive undertaking,” but he believes higher taxes and fees are “the most effective way” to solve the problem.

Dingell said he would levy an additional 50-cents-a-gallon tax on gasoline, jet fuel, kerosene, to be phased in over five years and then adjusted for inflation.

Boy, it must be nice to be able to simply pile on the taxes and restructure the Constitution at the same time. After all, the end result of this idiot’s agenda will be a socialist state to replace the present structure of the United States Government — Ding has already decided that socialized medicine is a done deal, so…

Where will the revenue go?

“First and foremost, the Earned Income Tax Credit will be expanded,” Dingell said on his website. He said the higher EIC (a tax refund for poor people who don’t pay taxes) will help lower income families compensate for the increased taxes on fuels.

Dingell said the money raised by the higher gasoline tax would go into a highway trust fund, with 40 percent going to mass transit and 60 percent going to roads. (The revenue from the tax on jet fuel would go into the airport and airway trust fund.)

Finally, Dingell said the revenue from his proposed fee on carbon emissions - the carbon tax - would go into the following accounts: Medicare and Social Security; Universal Healthcare (upon passage); State Children’s Health Insurance Program; Conservation
Renewable Energy Research and Development; Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

.

This is such a Democrat issue: Employ junk science as a basis for dumping large new tonnages of taxes on the American people while shoving our government in the direction of a political philosophy that is 180 degrees in opposition of the Law of the Land upon which our great and hitherto profoundly successful nation has been based from its founding.

To take things a step further, the politics advocated by the Democrats represent the cornerstones of those governments that have been our sworn enemies and collective anti-thesis over the last century.

Socialists. National Socialists. Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

These folks simply don’t understand even the most fundamental reasons why we broke away from England in the latter part of the 1700s, why our great Constitution says what it says or why the United States of America is boss trump in the global arena.

We are.

Even when we read about the citizens of foreign countries opposing us via demonstrations and so forth, we can understand that the reason they’re bitching is that we’re the boss — we possess the factors that make any entity existing within the boundaries of humanity boss: We are both economically and militarily superior to the rest of the world. When America makes a move, it is felt across the globe. That’s the way it is.

We don’t simply sit on our riches and/or our military might, we share both. The Democrats find fault in the latter. They found fault in our protecting the South Vietnamese from communism and they find fault in our attempts to introduce democracy to the Arab world. They would prefer to surrender.

If the Democrats are so dedicated to the options of

a) living under Sha’aria law or

b) being beheaded

that’s their lookout.

If the Democrats are so dedicated to taxing us to death

that’s a good reason to vote otherwise

If the Democrats are so willing to transform us into a socialist country

that’s a spectacular reason to do away with their party.

‘Nuff said.

You’re absolutely right, Seth. The only thing they have in common with the original Democratic party is the name of it. It should be called the “Socialist” party, but if they were truthful about who they are they wouldn’t stand a chance. They want huge government that punishes folks for being successful… except for themselves of course. Do we see them going without anything whatsoever? Even the Global Warming crusaders fly around in personal jets! LOL! Actually the perfectly honest name for their party would be “Socialist Hypocrites”!

    Gayle –

It definitely sucks that one of our two major political parties has gone so far to the left.

I grew up in a conservative Democrat family (I owe my first Republican vote to Jimmy Carter — his 1 term Presidency drew my vote for Reagan and my crossover to the right), and I sincerely believe that my grandfather would have changed parties had he seen what the socialist Democrats are representing today. He came here from the USSR.

It’s so crazy that the Democrats, once as patriotic and America-dedicated as the rest of us, have allowed themselves to become so submissive to the far left.

Oh, have I ever remarked that I’m glad I’ve passed the half century mark…?

    Seth:

And the Democrats pretend to care for the little guy?

Don’t they even stop to think how this will affect poor people? Gas prices are high enough for many people who are on fixed or limited incomes, and now they want to gouge them even more???

    What a bunch of hypocrites!

I hope Americans will express enough outrage to stop this guy in his tracks.

I’m so fed up with the Democrats’ obsession with socialism - currently I’m reading Hayek’s The Road to Serfdom and I see where we are headed with the Democratic Party’s initiatives. They have got to be stopped.

    Atheling2 –

This is why we can’t afford a recurrence of the last midterm elections, where too many starboard side voters stayed home.

Hopefully, the blatantly obvious excesses the Democrats have been peddling in the abuse of their Congressional majority are registering on the voting public — Dems Gone Wild! It’s as though they know their majority will be history come the next election and they want to do as much damage as they can in the time allotted.

Those who vote for these people are either singularly uninformed (not hard to imagine when one looks at their MSM “news” sources), completely out of touch with reality or America-hating, socialist lefties themselves.

There’s got to be something terribly wrong (mass insanity, perhaps?) when the voters in any political subdivision will elect the likes of a Dingell, a Pelosi, a Reid, a Murtha, an Obama or a Hillary to lead the country, and worse, when the last two are actually considered by so many to be Presidential candidate material.

  5. Ken Taylor Says:

Democrats never met a tax increase they didn’t like. You know the irony of the whole liberal mess and taxes is that fact that they place JFK as one of their most cherished icons yet he was the first President to cut taxes and actually stated that the best way to spur the economy is to cut taxes and let the people handle their own money.

Of course in todays political spectrum JFK with like policies as during his adminisration would have not been a Dem but a moderate Republican.

Democrats have this arrogant elitist idea that the American people are not smart enough to handle anything so it is their destiny to control government and make that government handle the citizinry…..Socialism with a Marxist twist.

The Hildabeast actually said this week that privitization never solves anything only governemtn can. If she were to get the White House, (which she won’t) Capitolism would end and total government control of society and money would evolve from her policies!

  6. Shoprat Says:

    Let’s see

They opposed keeping our treaties with the Indian Nations. (The Whigs or the GOP would sign a treaty with the Indians intending to keep it and the Democrats would come to power and ignore it.)

They opposed efforts to contain and end slavery.

They do have quite a history of progress don’t they?

  7. Seth Says:

    Ken –

Kennedy was what conservative (except around Marilyn) Democrats were back then, an America first politician, long before they permitted the far left to hijack their party — more accurately, buy it out.

If revisionist history fails to blot it out, the great grandchildren of many of today’s Democrat politicians will grow up learning that their grandparents were corrupt and contemptible assholes who pushed socialism and degraded their own country for campaign back-up and cash contributions.

Hillary needs to be burned at the stake or something. If this were only Salem, back in the day…

    Shoprat –

This is where the MSM makes its largest contribution to the political left.

They deny the public information that doesn’t meet their political agendas.

The print and broadcast media, plus liberals who are in a position to “revise” text books to meet the promotional reqs for political POVs have done a lot of damage and will undoubtedly do much more than we’d like to think about.

  8. MariesTwoCents Says:

    Excellent Post Seth :-)

You nailed it with this one. I dont even think the Liberals even the poor Liberals are going to go for a 50 cent gas tax.

And those of us that are opposed to raising taxes like you said for Global Hysteria that isnt even a proven fact, and all this other nonsense arent going to go for this crap either.

  9. Seth Says:

    Marie –

The ease with which Dingell says, “we’ll raise this tax, create that new tax, raise fees on this and raise taxes on that” epitomizes the Democrat thought process.

They are like robber barons looking to plunder working Americans of as much of our “long green” as they can get away with (turning it into short green) in order to finance agendas already proven, in other countries, to be failures. These failures tend to snowball into money-munching bureaucratic juggernauts that feed off continuous tax increases while giving substandard value or no value at all for the trillions of dollars in collected taxes that support them.

Even taking into account some of the stupid things our politicians deliver, as a whole they are not stupid people. What I’m saying is that we are looking more at individual eccentricities and partisan politics than we are intelligence or lack thereof.

Applying this to the Democrats, well, just look at the stuff some of those politicians spew, total cartoon rhetoric that the MSM somehow manages to clothe in repectability and reason.

Taking the above into account, there’s no way that any Democrat politician could possibly be naive to the point that he or she is unaware that his/her “contributions” to the leadership of our nation endorse the abandonment of the Constitution and the modification of our political system to socialism.

    This is insane!

  10. Donald Douglas Says:

    EITC’s okay…having bipartisan support and all…

Taxes will go up, no doubt, though, when a Democrat takes over in 2009.

  11. Seth Says:

    Donald –

    Perish the thought!

I’m fully confident that the excesses of the Democrat majority in Congress and the utterly ridiculous ramblings of their Presidential candidates — not to mention certain campaign finance issues and other tidbits involved — will help to see a Republican President succeeding Bush and a return to a Republican majority in 2009. :-)

  12. Gayle Says:

I pray to God that you are right in that last comment you made, Seth!

  13. BB-Idaho Says:

“will help to see a Republican President succeeding Bush”…oh no, not Ron Paul :)

  14. Seth Says:

    Gayle –

Practically every word that comes out of nearly every Democrat politician’s mouth when they get near a mic these days is nothing but pure fantasy, so much so that only the most gullible among the gullible could possibly take them seriously.

Outside their endless war against a U.S. victory in Iraq (which is attached like a Siamese twin to their war on Bush), look at the issues they prioritize. While Republican priorities are centered on a healthy economy and national security, the Democrats are pushing tax increases, socialist healthcare agendas, acquiescense to the unproven man-made global warming mongers, “social services”/driver’s licenses/amnesty for criminal aliens and same sex marriage — we have reached a juncture where people seem to be waking up and paying more attention to what these socialist imbeciles are trying to do.

    BB –

    Oh, no, NOT Ron Paul!

    :(
