Democrats & Freedom Of Speech — A Double Standard
The Democrats are the first to yell when they feel their “freedom of speech” is being infringed upon and they are the first to demand tolerance in all things …. as long as it goes in their favor.
CaptDMO at And Rightly So posts on the Democrats’ assault on the coming ABC movie about 9/11 and events during the Clinton years that were partially responsible for the tragic terrorist op.
One wonders why, being so concerned with The Truth, they weren’t so opposed to the slanderous Fahrenheit 9/11 product from traitor and toilet cake Michael Moore.
Global Warming vs. War On Terror
I had thought that I was done with the Global Warming kerfuffle for the time being, then along came this funny yet on point commentary by Julia Gorin in yesterday’s Jewish World Review I just had to share.
“Truth” star Al Gore calls global warming a “planetary emergency” and speaks of a clash between “civilization and the planet.”
Likewise, Bill Clinton’s “first worry” is climate change. “It’s the only thing that I believe has the power to fundamentally end the march of civilization as we know it,” the reputedly intelligent ex-president told a World Economic Forum audience earlier this year. Leonardo DiCaprio, meanwhile, says we’re in the “11th Hour.”
No wonder that while Islamic terrorism claims lives by the thousands every year, Hollywood churns out movies about the menace of Joe McCarthy, the Crusaders, Israeli Mossad and Richard Nixon. Freud called it displacement.
Let’s be honest: people fixate on the environment when they can’t deal with real threats. Combating the climate gives the non-hawks a chance to look tough. They figure, “Let’s flex our muscle with this Mother Nature thing. Let’s take a preemptive strike at an SUV. Let’s show ‘em we can be tough too.” So they play up climate change like it’s as urgent as terrorism, which they claim is overstated.
This brings to mind the left’s War On Wal-Mart — between that and the War On Global Warming, those stalwarts of the Democratic Army are fighting a bold and relentless war on two major fronts.
In fact, the more menacing terrorism becomes, the more they worry about the weather. Scared out of their wits and at a loss for how to fight terrorists — which requires testicles — they confront “climate change,” which doesn’t actually require doing anything aside from spending other people’s money like a bitch. Yes, let’s spend trillions of dollars on something that may not be real, may not need fixing, or may not be possible to fix. No wonder some of these people chain themselves to trees — they think money grows on them. (One plausible theory posits that this whole global warming scare is just another scheme to bankrupt the American economy, so that the socialists can turn around and say, “See? We told you capitalism doesn’t work!”)
Meanwhile, a real solution to a real problem — say, missile defense — is regarded as a joke by these types. So while the hawks among us worry about preventing the Armageddon that’s coming, our modern-day hippies just want to make sure the planet is in pristine condition when it does.
Why are these people so worried about the environment, anyway? It’s not like they’re living on this planet. Speaking of which, scientists have recently discovered global warming on Mars. See that? Martians need to stop driving those damned SUVs!

Islamofascism 101
For those so dhim that they still don’t get it, Michelle Malkin lays out the threat posed to the free world by Islamofascism in the simplest of terms.
Who Says They’re Hypocrites!?
Sorry about the recent lack of any kind of posting, but between an unexpectedly active Labor Day weekend and a ton and a half of work that couldn’t wait, I’ve barely had time to even check my email.
So I decided to break for a bit, and watched some “24″ episodes on DVD. I never really got into the show on TV, because a) nearly 1/3 of the hour is comprised by disruptive 4 1/2 minute commercial breaks and b) even with the “previously on ‘24′” prologues, waiting an entire week to get from one hour of a story to the next doesn’t really do much for me in the way of entertainment, but watching the show season by season sans commercials makes it quite enjoyable.
Jack Bauer has replaced Vic Mackey as my favorite TV hero — I’m not much of a TV watcher, so when I take an interest in a TV product it generally means that I’m either greatly amused by it or it is of an informative nature, like something on C-Span, Fox or whatever.
Anyway, I didn’t come here this morning to talk about me — yes, it is morning, there’s something going on with the blog’s clock, but as I am typing this it is actually 3:00 am on Thursday here in North Carolina — I came here to bring up something that occurred to me as I watched “24″.
Here is one of Hollywood’s most profound recent year ratings triumphs, a show about the L.A. (where Hollywood is) office of an agency known as CTU, or Counter Terrorist Unit. It has done five successful seasons, with each episode a “real time” hour of each story — it is definitely a unique and well crafted, well scripted, fast paced (hell, non-stop action!) series. The characters have well defined personalities, many of them realistically flawed. Each season takes place in a single 24 hour period, hence the title and the 24 episode seasons.
CTU is my kind of agency. They do what they need to do to prevent nuclear detonations, assassinations and biological warfare attacks by terrorists on U.S. soil — conveniently for filming purposes, all in Los Angeles. They place suspects under an all-invasive, no-privacy-allowed high tech microscope with satellites, computers, phone taps and everything else at their considerable disposal, they torture interrogate stubborn prisoners in holding rooms right on their premises, hold suspects without access to an attorney, the bottom line being the saving of innocent American lives from terrorism, hold the PC.
Jack Bauer, the main character, is a guy with whom Job would have gladly traded places. He and Murphy’s Law are joined at the hip. His wife and daughter are kidnapped, his wife is murdered by a lady mole who was Jack’s partner and onetime lover, Jack is brutally tortured with resulting heart problems, receives a few beatings that would put most strong men away for good, becomes a junkie in order to maintain his cover on an assignment in Colombia and then leads an involved and typically dangerous operation while trying to kick the habit, is fired, arrested and has pretty much everything undesirable that can happen to someone happen to him, all because of his job, yet he remains dedicated unto death to his country; A few times, he goes into situations with the full expectation of sacrificing himself to save the country, and does so because he sees his actions as the only solutions to the problems at hand. He’s even sliced himself open without so much as hesitating or flinching because he needed to appear wounded. And he stays in constant action 24 hours at a clip without so much as a couple of minutes’ rest.
When he needs information fast, he has no compunction about ruthlessly torturing it out of a bad guy right on the spot.
To put it in more technical psychological terminology, he is one bad dude.
All that having been said, the series has been a great commercial success — very few, even those who have never watched “24″, have not heard the name Jack Bauer.
So here we have a fictitious government agency that Hollywood has made heroes out of, and made mega-millions in profits on, that is the antithesis of all that those left wing, anti-war, treasonous scumbag marxist liberal ladies and gentlemen out there stand for.
Practically everything CTU and Jack Bauer do to protect the country has at some point in the last couple of years been something the Hollywood left has helped raise hell about as a way to villify the Bush Administration. Domestic spying, deprivation of Constitutional rights, torture…. yet it’s perfectly alright to make heroes of those fictional characters using these same methods, as long as the greedy hypocrites can squeeze lots of revenue out of 18 + minutes of commercials, leaving the viewer 42 minutes of actual program time in the hour. It’s easy to keep track, as each commercial break begins and ends with a timeline to keep the continuity of the hour represented by each episode, and the timelines, thankfully without commercials in between them, appear on the DVDs, as well.
Then there are the anti-American, leftist asswipes liberal actors like George Clooney who have no problem slandering the President and screeching anti-war rhetoric in real life while raking in the bucks playing heroic military roles like his character in a movie he made with Nicole Kidman where Serbs were planning on detonating a stolen Russian nuke near the U.N. (if it weren’t for the potential collateral damage, I’d have very little problem there) — I cannot for the life of me remember the title of the film.
I suppose that the distaste I see in traitors profiting grandly from make-believe stories of patriotism they don’t know anything about is not shared by the Hollywood crowd. After all, these are people whose multi-million dollar incomes make it possible to isolate themselves from the very realities they profess to know something about while seeing themselves as qualified to opine on, but… but that’s Hollywood and that’s liberals, and wherever you find liberals, you find hypocrisy.

Wal-Mart Derangement Syndrome… LOL!
This is great, it truly is, to say nothing of vastly amusing in a pitiful sort of way, and demonstrates perfectly why the Democrats aren’t getting Congress or the White House back anytime soon.
While the Republicans are running on platforms related to national security and the survival of the free world in the war against global terrorism, et al, the Democrats’ big contribution is the “war on Wal-Mart”. Here is a retail behemoth that makes it possible for millions of low income Americans to make ends meet and at the same time enjoy many products and technologies that might otherwise be beyond the reach of their respective finances. It is also an entity that creates large amounts of jobs, with benefits, in places where employment is scarce.
When you stop to think that lower income voters are at the same time both the meat and drink constituency of the Democrats and the biggest customers of Wal-Mart, you just have to wonder… The Democrats don’t like that the unions don’t like that they can’t get into Wal-Mart for their usual profiteering activities, and given the size of the company, it would be an enormous coup, they could bleed the retailer until in order to survive it had to raise its prices, thereby hurting those same low income folks who depend on the savings they enjoy at Wal-Mart.
The Democrats in their present incarnation do more to campaign for the Republicans than the Republicans do. And these are the “intellectuals” among us. The cultural elite. The “champions of the poor”. Go, Dems!
In this weekend’s edition of Jewish World Review, Jonah Goldberg introduces a new malady called WMDS, or Wal-Mart Derangement Syndrome.
The New York Times reported recently that the Democrats have, en masse, declared their party to be the enemy of the mega-box store. Sen. Joe Biden Jr., D-Del., recently delivered what the Times called a “blistering attack” on the company at an anti-Wal-Mart rally in Iowa, and other Democrats have appeared at similar events. Indeed, one of the few times Lieberman and Lamont appeared at the same event during their primary contest was at an anti-Wal-Mart clambake in the Nutmeg State.
This bonfire of buffoonery is helping me learn to love Wal-Mart. First, let’s talk politics. More people shop at Wal-Mart every week (127 million) than voted in the 2004 presidential election, according to a company Web site. They are disproportionately low-income folks who, by some estimates, are collectively saving hundreds of billions of dollars by shopping there.
Compounding the electoral asininity is the glorious hypocrisy of it all. Hillary Rodham Clinton — who returned a donation from the devilish retailer — was on Wal-Mart’s board of directors from the mid-1980s until the 1992 presidential campaign. If the store’s policies are so un-Progressive, how come it never occurred to her to do anything about it until now? Similarly, former would-be first lady Teresa Heinz attacked the store in 2004, saying it “destroys communities” — which apparently never stopped her from hawking her ketchup there or owning $1 million in Wal-Mart stock. Even Lamont, the golden boy of the new yuppie populism, owns a few thousand bucks of Wal-Mart stock.
Read the entire column, it’s quite enjoyable.
With a hat tip to James Taranto, here’s another spot-on column on the War On Wal-Mart by Herman Cain.

Spot-On Melanie Morgan Column
Melanie Morgan has a new Hot Talk column out at World Net Daily that’s a must-read.
An excerpt:
The men and women of the United States Armed Forces have made tremendous progress in Iraq, but Tucker Carlson and his ilk are largely ignorant of this or ignore such progress because it doesn’t fit with their own agenda.
The foreign terrorist threat posed by al-Qaida sympathizers who poured into Iraq from Iran and Syria has largely been defeated. You hear almost nothing from the news media about the fact that al-Qaida in Iraq has been effectively destroyed by our military. The violence today is largely sectarian violence between competing religious and ethnic groups. The greatest need in Iraq today is to ensure that a sense of stability and security can allow this newly freed nation to chart a course for a peaceful future, free of sectarian violence.
Carlson sat silent and stunned, along with anti-war Democrat strategist Rich Masters, when I pointed out that the number of fatalities in Iraq had been dropping over the past several months. You see, both Carlson and Masters are creatures of that political-media world where truth is concocted out of do-gooder liberal ideology and facts are ignored.
So far this month, there have been fewer U.S. troops killed in Iraq than died in the month of July. July’s fatality figures were lower than those of June. June’s were lower than May’s. And May’s fatalities were lower than April’s. The news is that we are WINNING!
Does this information surprise you?
It should, because the mainstream media has done everything it can to paint Operation Iraqi Freedom as a failure. The progress that is made in rebuilding Iraq on a daily basis is seldom reported.
The humanitarian efforts of U.S. troops are almost entirely ignored. Liberal journalists scoff at the daily reports by U.S. Central Command outlining our military’s success in apprehending or killing terrorists and death squad leaders. These left-wing reporters seem hell-bent to rally the American public to oppose the mission in Iraq.
H/T Joe Wierzbicki
Learning The Hard Way?
Muslim terrorists often supply motivations for their applied Islam — “your country does not treat Muslims fairly, your army is fighting in Iraq, your government supports Israel,” yadda yadda yadda.
These reasons are patently false, supplied solely to conceal the magnitude of Islam’s intent — Islamic terrorists apply their Islam for one reason: Because their targets are “infidels”, “non-believers”, not Muslims, even though they have proven to have absolutely no concern when the collateral damage in their attacks includes fellow Muslims.
On 31 July, Germany came close to suffering a terrorist attack that would have incinerated a number of train passengers. They were spared only because the explosive devices didn’t go off as planned.
So far the terror threat in Germany hasn’t been considered as high as in the U.K. or U.S. because the country didn’t take part in the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
One can only hope that this PC policy of bending over backwards not to offend Muslims by some governments will now be tempered by the knowledge that a country need not do anything to provoke terrorist attacks other than to be anything other than an Islamic theocracy, but I wouldn’t count on it.
Until western civilization fully opens its eyes and realizes we are totally at war with Islam, a war declared by Islam centuries before Saddam Hussein was born or Israel achieved statehood and commits itself to an all out response, the civilian populations of non-Muslim countries will never be truly safe.
