I Absolutely, Positively Love…

This year’s Democratic plan for the future is another inane sound bite designed to trick American voters into trusting them with national security.
To wit, they’re claiming there is no connection between the war on terror and the war in Iraq, and while they’re all for the war against terror — absolutely in favor of that war — they are adamantly opposed to the Iraq war. You know, the war where the U.S. military is killing thousands upon thousands of terrorists (described in the media as “Iraqi civilians,” even if they are from Jordan, like the now-dead leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi). That war.
As Howard Dean put it this week, “The occupation in Iraq is costing American lives and hampering our ability to fight the real global war on terror.”
This would be like complaining that Roosevelt’s war in Germany was hampering our ability to fight the real global war on fascism. Or anti-discrimination laws were hampering our ability to fight the real war on racism. Or dusting is hampering our ability to fight the real war on dust.
I have no trouble understanding why liberals hate her. Like Islamofascists, they have a very real problem when anyone has the collossal nerve to speak the truth.
All I can say is, “Let ‘em eat {California} spring rolls.”

As an American myself Seth I have to say that showbiz figures like Coulter & Hannity or Franken or Garafalo are fairly low on the list of people to admire.

In an interview with George Gurley, Coulter stated that: “My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building.” [Wikipedia] Ann is an attention-craving pundit and certainly not a good source
for facts.

Why is it that when someone like Dick Durbin compares GITMO with “the killing fields of the Pol Pot regime” we don’t hear a single liberal remark on the absurdity of it, yet as soon as Ann Coulter says something, it’s a different story?
Sounds like bias, as opposed to reason, to me.

Senator Durbin’s remarks were unfortunate and he apologized for making them.
I’ve yet to hear Ann Coulter apologize for advocating mass murder.

In general, I am disappointed with Anne Coulter because she is wasting her talents: a person with her evident intelligence could better use her mind and verbal skills to overwhelm her opponents in debate rather than hurling rhetorical bombs designed to end discussion.That said, in this column she does issue an important challenge to Democrats to delineate an alternative system for dealing with terrorism rather than spouting platitudes divorced from reality.

Civil Truth –
Ann is not a political figure, she is a private individual whose celebrity is based in part on her bluntly outrageous statements. Considering that the left has its Michael Moores and Al Frankens, I think it’s kind of nice to have our own “pit bull”, albeit an attractive one. I’ve read and enjoyed all of her books and never miss any of her columns.
That said, I agree that she would be a formidable debater if that had been her chosen path. I’ve also seen her debate people from time to time in short segments at places like O’Reilly’s, and I, for one, wouldn’t want to be on the opposite end of an argument with her — luckily, LOL, we share very similar views.
And yes, this particular column does indeed challenge the Democrats to produce some real answers, though we can hardly expect that to occur. They simply haven’t got a clue where terrorism is concerned, in large part because they hate Bush so much that they mistakenly treat him as the enemy instead of focusing on the real threat, in fact their actions do infinitely more to aid and abet the enemy than anything else.
