Election Day Approaches….

Having spent Hurricane Sandy in Manhattan with friends (Wolf and I live out in the Hamptons, so these friends practically dragged me off to “safety” before the hurricane arrived), I haven’t been near a working computer for a few days (we are in the lower quadrant of Manhattan, and haven’t had any electricity for a few days thanks to a ConEd transformer blowing up due to contact with sea water). I just now found a library that’s open in upper Manhattan.

So.

This will likely be my final post before Tuesday, on which day we will hopefully fire Barack Hussein Obama and engage Mitt Romney as our President-Elect. Hope, as they say, springs eternal.

A couple of reasons, here, as to why a vote to reelect Obama would be a profound error of judgement on the part of any sane American.

One comes from Ann Coulter.

The single most important issue in this election is ending the national nightmare of Obamacare.

If Obamacare is not stopped, it will permanently change the political culture of this country. There will be no going back. America will become a less productive, less wealthy nation. What wealth remains will have to be plowed into Obamacare — to the delight only of the tens of thousands of government bureaucrats administering it.

There won’t be one moment marking the end of America. Everything will just gradually get worse, like trains and the tax code, until a bustling, prosperous nation is as distant a memory as pleasurable train travel and one-page tax returns.

As with all liberal schemes requiring lots of government workers – which is the Democrats’ true constituency – liberals claimed there was a crisis of millions of uninsured — an enormity of human suffering that nothing would stop except a massive federal solution.

There was no crisis. Poor people have Medicaid. Liberals got around this implacable fact by defining as “uninsured” any poor person who hadn’t been to the doctor yet. But if they’re poor, then they’re eligible for Medicaid. It’s like saying people who haven’t applied for driver’s licenses are being “denied the right to drive.”

What were their specific beefs with health insurance? Democrats could never come up with anything good.

Instead they threw around phony statistics and outright lies:

Read on…

The other arrives via GOPUSA dot com, and makes one ask, “How can we vote to reelect an administration that countenances this?”

The real story about what happened at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya in which four Americans were killed just gets worse and worse. Not only did Barack Obama and his team perpetuate a lie for nearly two weeks as to the cause of the attack, but in breaking news, we are now learning that during the attack, Americans called out for help, and were denied any assistance.

In an exclusive report by Fox News, sources who were on the ground in Benghazi during the attack say “an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. consulate and subsequent attack several hours later was denied by U.S. officials — who also told the CIA operators twice to “stand down” rather than help the ambassador’s team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11.”

Here’s more of the report:

Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to “stand down,” according to sources familiar with the exchange. Soon after, they were again told to “stand down.”

Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. The rescue team from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.

At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied.

The report continues.

The right thinking choice for this Tuesday is a foregone conclusion, and his name is Mitt Romney.

I’m delighted you and Wolf are OK, but, if the media reports in Europe are any guide, I suspect you are in for another 4 years under the left …

All I can say is “i’m sorry” and good luck.

The European outlook and the U.S. outlook are definitely at odds, depending, I suppose, on which media group is to be believed.

It actually looks much rosier here than it does there.

I keep seeing some Irish odds site that gives Obama odds we just can’t see here.

Tuesday will tell us all… :-)

Indeed, the media here is talking up Obama endlessly and taking care to trumpet every misstep of the Republicans and Romney. I sincerely hope it comes back to bite them. What I do find interesting is the flood of anti-Romney ’spoofs’ finding their way into YouTube, some even ‘editing’ some of his less well thought through responses and utterances to make them even worse. On the blogosphere the ’smeer Romney’ bloggers are getting more and more hysterical - the latest is ranting about his ‘illegal’ distribution of ‘aid’ for the hurricane victims to ’swing states he could win.’ Having seen him on the BBC World Service appealling to his supporters to ‘give to the American Red Cross for the relief of victims of the storm I can’t imagine where this is coming from.

Some of the things I’ve seen being spread on this side of the Atlantic include -
    - he says women who get pregnant in a rape ‘wanted’ to …
    - he wants all Gays cured …
    - he wants to cut taxes for the billionaires and raise them for the middle classes …
    - he’s going to cut benefits and remove them from the poorest …
    - he’s going to round up all the illegal aliens and ship them back to Mexico/Colombia/Cuba/wherever …
    - he’s going to start a war with Iran …
    - he’s going to scrap all environmental protection …
    - … take your pick of whatever desperate and completely zany idea you can think of …

It suggests to me that all the freeloaders who have time to dream up this garbage are dead scared he’ll get in and make them actually get out of bed, off the internet and do something useful. Like earn some money for themselves instead of freeloading.

Yes, they seem to be out in force, don’t they?

This has been going on for awhile now, increasing in proportion to Romney’s rise in the polls.

I’ve spoken to blacks and other believers of liberal media tripe who actually believe Romney would completely do away with welfare, social security, food stamps, any kind of unbilled medical care (contrary to the many liberal horror stories, here in the U.S. medical care is available to all — anyone who is destitute can walk into a hospital and get treatment, and the government will reimburse the hospital for it).

Scare tactics and extreme, unfounded accusations are the “progressives’” order of the day at the best of times, and now that they perceive a likely loss for their lame excuse for a president, they are getting very, very desperate.

I hate being proved right, especially in this case …

Frankly the rejoicing in the UK media particularly is enough to turn my stomach. Anyone would think he was the Messiah and that Romney was the Anti-Christ now lying at the feet of the Heavenly Host as the last trumpets sound.

There can be only one explanation for it: He’s an ‘ethnic minority’, disadvantaged by the terrible white Republicans from birth and all the ‘liberal’ trash can now feel so good about his ‘triumph over the forces of adversity.’ Until next time.

Yes, it is beyond disappointing and, despite their enthusiasm at his victory, I believe those who voted to reelect Obama will live to regret their decision as Obamanomics and Obamacare come into their own, higher taxes and mismanagement of foreign affairs become the norm and what remains of full time jobs will largely go to part time hours to avoid the cost of the insurance rates Obamacare© will entail.

    I believe this does it.

As Seth once quoted, I believe when it became more than obvious that the left had succeeded in completely overhauling the foundations of America:

    Don’t let it be forgot
that once there was a spot
    for one brief shining moment
that was known as Camelot the U.S.A.
