It’s Not Like Arizona’s Taking The Law…
…into its own hands, as the phrase goes, it’s more like, unlike the U.S. Government, they’re enforcing the law.
For some time now, it’s appeared that certain politicians and, sadly, Americans, interpret the word illegal to mean “a sick bird”. We already know that we’re presently governed by a president and a congressional majority who believe that the Constitution, printed on a long, narrow, perforated roll of tissue paper, can be found rolled up on a spool in a bracket on the wall beside the commode, but the additional knowledge that they get hives, a rash or some other ailment as a result of defying their allergy to the law is a bit much.
Thankfully and in hopes that it sets a precedent of some kind, the governor of Arizona, in accordance with the the will of the majority of her constituents, has signed a statewide illegal immigration bill into law.
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed a law making it a state crime to be an illegal immigrant, just hours after President Obama criticized the measure and said the federal government would review it to see if it violates civil rights laws.
In signing the bill, the Republican governor said she has also issued an executive order to set standards to ensure racial profiling does not take place under the new law, which goes into effect in 90 days. She said the state had to step in and protect its residents because the federal government has failed.
“Though many people disagree, I firmly believe it represents what’s best for Arizona,” the governor said as she signed the law.
The law makes it a state crime to be in Arizona without proof of legal status, and would authorize police to demand documents from those they suspected could be illegal immigrants. It would also make it a crime to transport or hide illegal immigrants.
The Arizona law has the support of the state’s two Republican senators, who said criminals among the illegal immigrant population are responsible for a marked increase in violence and crime.
Of course, there are always those who have no respect for the sovereignty of our country, in fact no respect for anything that stands in the way of their agendas, even when they’re bad for the United States and the citizens herein.
But one of the state’s congressman, Rep. Raul Grijalva, a Democrat, has urged businesses to boycott Arizona in retaliation for the proposed law. He said the measure would encourage racial profiling and predicted that without some sort of penalty falling on Arizona, other states would try to follow its lead.
Yes, there will be dissent from Mexican residents with U.S. citizenship who haven’t a clue as to what words like “patriotism”, as regards their citizenship status, engender and lawless liberals who see a massive amnesty they hope someday to bring about, gain the votes of a million criminal aliens once they’ve been amnestied and then naturalized.
Even “our” president will be attacking the bill, using as a basis, among other already tired arguments, that it will encourage racial profiling.
Arizona’s governor vows the state’s tough new law targeting illegal immigration will be implemented with no tolerance for racial profiling, but at least two advocacy groups were preparing legal challenges and Mexico has warned that the law could affect cross-border relations.
Cross border relations, hmmmmm…….There’s another argument that’s become tired.
It’s none of Mexico’s business what laws we enact in order to protect our citizens from cirme and safeguard, to the best of our ability, our economy, as long as we’re not going south across the border and physically disrupting their state of being.
The fact that the corrupt, unctuous bottom feeders who govern Mexico are not favorably disposed toward taking responsibility for anything other than lining their own pockets is not a prerequisite factor for any of our own internal legislation, and therefore we are not responsible for taking in, at massive cost to our own citizens in terms of livelihood, well being, safety and the disposition of our taxes, the bulk of their neglected, unemployed population, let alone the legions of violent criminals spawned by corruption and neglect on the part of that same government.
Republican Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a bill that supporters said would take handcuffs off police in dealing with illegal immigration in Arizona, the nation’s busiest gateway for human and drug smuggling from Mexico and home to an estimated 460,000 illegal immigrants. The law requires police to question people about their immigration status — including asking for identification — if they suspect someone is in the country illegally. It’s sparked fears among legal immigrants and U.S. citizens that they’ll be hassled by police just because they look Hispanic.
With hundreds of protesters outside the state Capitol shouting that the bill would lead to civil rights abuses, Brewer said critics were “overreacting” and that she wouldn’t tolerate racial profiling.
“We in Arizona have been more than patient waiting for Washington to act,” Brewer said after signing the law. “But decades of inaction and misguided policy have created a dangerous and unacceptable situation.”
My emphasis, there.
And that says it all, I should think.
Federal Law dictates in no uncertain terms that these illegals are just that, illegal. It is the federal government’s job to enforce federal law. They are failing at that task, more out of unwillingness for political reasons than anything else, and if they aren’t going to do the job, states have to do it themselves in what amounts to pure self defense.
Earlier Friday, President Barack Obama called the Arizona bill “misguided” and instructed the Justice Department to examine it to see if it’s legal. He also said the federal government must enact immigration reform at the national level — or leave the door open to “irresponsibility by others.”
Seems to me, the door’s been open to Irresponsibility by the federal government, and what Arizona’s doing is simply working to patch that particular hole in the fabric in the society of their state. It’s truly amazing what that lying, anti-Constitution, phony American has the moxi to say, expecting intelligent people to acknowledge his statements a seven a trifle respecting of their sensibilities.
The new law makes it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally. Immigrants unable to produce documents showing they are allowed to be in the U.S. could be arrested, jailed for up to six months and fined $2,500.
It also allows lawsuits against government agencies that hinder enforcement of immigration laws and toughens restrictions on hiring illegal immigrants for day labor and knowingly transporting them.
My thoughts: “Way to go, Jan Brewer!”

According to today’s Washington Post, BHO is tweaked over this legislation in Arizona.
More noteworthy is the fact that over 70% of Arizonans polled favor the legislation. The people of Arizona has had enough of criminal invaders.

Well now, “Yes, there will be dissent from Mexican residents with U.S. citizenship who haven’t a clue as to what words like “patriotism”…” There are occasional exceptions as we learned from the post above:
“Petty Officer 1st Class Julio Huertas, 28, of Blue Island, Ill., was found not guilty by a six-man jury of charges of dereliction of duty and attempting to influence the testimony of another service member.” That is just one USN seal. 14% of the USMC is Latino.
Whether these folks like getting pulled over for papers, not sure, but doubt they would like ‘haven’t a clue to what words like Patriotism..”. I’m a little unclear on the AZ-Guv plans to avoid
racial profiling…unless, like the airline terminals her state cops roust out little old ladies of nordic appearance? I don’t blame AZ-they have a bigtime problem there…just pointing out some flies in the ointment of generalities.

I was not referring to all persons of Mexican birth or Mexican descent who are U.S. citizens. Many of them, obviously including Petty Officer Huertas, are patriots. Most of them who went, or whose parents or grandparents went the legal route to become U.S. citizens, apparently believe that the legal way is the way to go.
There are also a large number who have little or no respect for the American flag (witness the La Raza movement and the noise they made a couple of years or so ago, upside down U.S. flag, etc) or American patriotism. These are the people who, out of lack of patriotism and lack of regard for the laws of the United States, fully support illegal immigration. In my opinion, every one of these folks should be sent back (that’s right, send ‘em back!) to Mexico, to live in the squalor from which they came, and PNG’d.
As for the mares eat oats and does eat oats attitude of many, from far left liberals to Mexicans and South Americans with latino features and/or swarthy complexions, there exists no “right not to be offended” in the Constitution, whereas the government is obligated to enforce federal laws, which just happen to include apprehending and deporting criminal aliens. They are also duty bound to protect us from all enemies, foreign and domestic and, like it or not, illegal immigrants are a significant threat to not only our economy, but to public safety as well, as these days they bring their extremely violent crime syndicate baggage with them in their carry-on luggage.
When such threats are presented, so-called “racial profiling” is part and parcel of the scheme of things. If a subject of such is offended, well, if he or she is patriotic enough to understand the why of it, fine. If he or she is not, well, the Rio Grande can be swam from north to south just as easily as south to north…

1.Once upon a time, the American people mostly paid attention to what the politicians were doing, and the media told the truth.
2.Then again, once upon a time, we elected statesmen to public office, now we (or I should say, too many uninformed — see 1. — voters) elect a lot of self seeking, socialistic career politicians who could care less about the Constitution, the will of the people or the nation’s spectacular track record during the two centuries in which we lived according to the designs of the founding fathers.

was a Garden of Eden. T’wasn’t: slaves were hung, not politicians.
In fact, I don’t recall any US politicians hanging from trees. (a few got shot in duels, though) As Dickens noted and we might apply to any segment of history, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”. You are right about the southern Democrats..began in the times of carpetbaggers as a response to GOP led efforts to rebuild the south. First black senator was a Republican, much to the ex-rebs dismay. Got worse and worse. Dose Dems was wearin sheets. You (purposely, I assume, knowing your grasp of history) neglected to mention the demise of the southern democrat; the Southern Strategy of Kevin Phillips and other Nixon operatives. Phillips

Arizona can pass race base laws, pass Birthers laws and the state can continue to boycott Martin Luther King Day, well the rest of the Country can boycott the state of Arizona and spank them where it hurts them the most their pocket book. Their phony patriotism is sickening, they are just racists going by another name. We all know you are just itching to put a sheet on their head? Let’s face it the Republicans had eight years to deal with health care, immigration, climate change and financial oversight and governance and they failed. It appears that the Republican Party is only good at starting wars (two in eight years, with fat War profiteering contracts to friends of Cheney/Bush) but not at winning wars as seen by the continuing line of body bags that keep coming home. The Republicans party will continue turned inward to their old fashion obstructionist party (and their Confederacy appreciation roots) because they continue to allow a small portions (but very loud portion) of their party of “birthers, baggers and blowhards” to rule their party. I will admit that this fringe is very good at playing “Follow the Leader” by listening to their dullard leaders, Beck, Hedgecock, Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush, Savage, Sarah Bailin, Orly Taitz, Victoria Jackson, Michele Bachmann and the rest of the Blowhards and acting as ill programmed robots (they have already acted against doctors that perform abortions). The Birthers and the Tea party crowd think they can scare, intimidate and force others to go along with them by comments like “This time we came unarmed”, let me tell you something not all ex-military join the fringe militia crazies who don’t pay taxes and run around with face paint in the parks playing commando, the majority are mature and understand that the world is more complicated and grey than the black and white that these simpleton make it out to be and that my friend is the point. The world is complicated and people like Hamilton, Lincoln, and Roosevelt believed that we should use government a little to increase social mobility, now it’s about dancing around the claim of government is the problem. The sainted Reagan passed the biggest tax increase in American history and as a result federal employment increased, but facts are lost when mired in mysticism and superstition. For a party that gave us Abraham Lincoln, it is tragic that the ranks are filled with too many empty suits and the crazy Birthers who have not learned that the way our courts work is that you get a competent lawyer, verifiable facts and present them to a judge, if the facts are real and not half baked internet lies, then, and only then, do you proceed to trial. The Birthers seem to be having a problem with their so called “facts”. Let’s face it no one will take the Birthers seriously until they win a case, but until then, you will continue to appear dumb, crazy or racist, or maybe all three. I heard that Orly Taitz now wants to investigate the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC), she wants to re-establish a family values party, that’s like saying that the Catholic Church cares about the welling being of children in their care, too late for that.

True, the demographics have changed, in fact the leadership among the Democrats on the Hill is mostly northern, with a bit of west and some midwest thrown in, “but be afraid, be very afraid”
The same racism that once festered among the Democrats in the south has spread along with the geographic distribution of Democrats around the country.
As far as there not having actually been cases of U.S. politicians being hanged for treason, this is because back in the day, the vast majority of our senators, representatives and presidents were people who believed in the Constitution and performed their service to the nation accordingly. Those with reservations remained within acceptable limits, not attempting to violate the law of the land in destructive mode. Therefore, the people, who back then paid a lot better attention to what the politicians were about, didn’t need to resort to stringing ‘em up.
If only the same could be said for those traitors we now have running the Executive Branch and both houses of Congress.

You seem to have compressed a goodly portion of the ongoing “progressive” argument into your comment, but I’ll try and disseminate what I can as regards its application to the illegal immigration issue and specifically Arizona’s role in enforcing their piece of the issue.
Illegal Immigration, first off, is exactly that: Illegal. The term “illegal” is not defined as unpopular, up for debate, entitled to a free bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich or even entitled to file for an exception.
It means it is against the law, period, and in the case of those here on American soil without the proper documentation, it is a felony.
Illegal immigration undermines our economy and, given the drug wars that have been making their way from Mexico into the U.S. and the tens of thousands of felonies committed, even previously, by illegal aliens in this country, presents a public safety hazard.
The state of Arizona simply became tired of the federal government not enforcing the laws against illegal immigration, and so passed a bill in their state to enforce it themselves.
Perhaps I missed something somewhere along the line, but when did the logic behind my above explanation become incomprehensible?
Illegal aliens are people whom the law says are not supposed to be in this country. That is what the law says.
Any argument against that is, quite simply, an argument that we should break the law. Breaking the law is a crime. :-0

It’s not how early the paper arrives on your front porch, it’s which sections of the paper you read, or what you make a point of “digesting” — or just as important, what they report to you — in the course of an MSM newscast or while you’re reading the online edition of a print media venue.
Same with all that there high tech traffic coming down the Information Super-Highway.
People today are more, for the most part, interested in the personal affairs of their favorite celebrities, whether or not So-And-So managed to climb the cliff after the delightful dinner of slugs on the latest episode of some reality TV show, which of the two inbreds is really the mother of their little niece, and which of their romantically involved brothers is the father, on Jerry Springer, who will enjoy the permanent favors of Such-And-Such on One Life To Live or who will win this or that game show.
Talk to most people these days and you learn that they have zero knowledge of political goings on, or they are “knowledgeable” only only to the extent of what the propagandists of the MSM have “reported”.
Back in the day, people hungered for news of what the politicians were doing in Washington and, even out there on the frontier, they were more aware, as a result of the sparser and slower news they received, than most of today’s big city folks, and they talked about it as well as debated about it.
